Snowshoeing is a great winter aerobic activity for the family. It allows you to get outside and see the sights along with getting in some needed cardiovascular exercise. Part 1 addresses equipment and preparation.

Great Outdoor Recreation in Alden. The 17 acre Coy Mountain Nature Preserve is located southeast of Alden off Valley Road, The rolling terrain makes it perfect for hiking and snowshoeing. The overlook of Torch Lake is spectacular, although its best enjoyed when the leaves are off the trees.

Rapid River Park on Valley Road. Beautiful trails along the Rapid River for hiking, biking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. There are currently 2 undesignated pathways at this preserve. One leads the visitor through the bridges area to a meadow. The other leads to the top of Rickers Mountain on the west-side of Valley Rd. [More] [Less]

Great Rec Area along the Rapid River. Pond and Dam that is great for fishing and picnicking with beautiful trails along the Rapid River for hiking, biking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

Located off Torch River Road... Short hike to scenic overlook of Lake Skegemog and entrance to Torch River. Great for bird watching.

Fall Colors are spectacular in October in and around Torch Lake. Spend a weekend taking in natures majesty.
